The center of gravity of the world’s economy is rapidly shifting towards Asia.
Half of the new wealth created in the global economy in the next ten years will come from Asia. Asia represents an opportunity that no global company can afford to ignore. Firms that establish a position in Asia will be able to strengthen their global position. Those that don’t may remain large, but they will become regional and increasingly defensive. There can be no global business strategy today which does not have an Asian strategy at its very center. Although some have been claiming of late that the Asian economy has already peaked, the growth in Asia is long term and has a considerable way to go. As Asia becomes the center of the world economy, so China and India will increasingly become the center of the Asian economy.
